Hello

Hello, I'm Elisha - known to the children as Fun Nurse!

Im a paediatric nurse with over 15 years experience.

Originally from the UK, I obtained my degree exclusively in paediatrics.

My clinical background is rooted in emergency & trauma nursing, where I developed a strong understanding of the healthcare needs of children in high-pressure environments.

I thrive on being busy - I love structure, I love chaos, and I love making it all work!

Im a proud wife and mum of two beautiful children - a four-year-old daugher and a one-year-old son. With a FIFO husband and no family support in this country, life can be full-on, but it never stops me from doing what I love!

Im still a hospital nurse and also work as a primary school nurse, all while running my own business Fun Nurse.

My ultimate dream is to grow Fun Nurse into a full-time role while continuing to work casually as a nurse. Nursing will always be a part of who I am - I truly love the clinical side and the connection it brings.

For now, im grateful for the balance and variety that this chapter brings while my children are little.

My Fun Nurse Story

As both a nurse and a mother myself, I founded Fun Nurse with the mission to reduce fear and anxiety that children often experience around doctors and medical settings. Its deeply important to me that children feel safe and supported during healthcare experiences.

Fun Nurse began in November 2022 after my daughters daycare invited me to give a small talk about being a nurse - simply as a fun informal session. With permission from my hospital, I brought along a few pieces of equipment from my ward and spoke to the kindy children about what nurses do. To my surprise, the children were completely captivated! Their curiosity and excitement made the experience so rewarding - even though, at the time, I was completely 'winging-it'.

Afterwards, the children took turns in trying on one of my spare uniforms and exploring the equipment in a playful, hands-on way. It was such a joyful experience - and for weeks afterwards, they would run up to me with huge smiles whenever they saw me at drop-off or pick-up for my daughter. I honestly think I had just as much fun as they did, if not more!

A few days later, my daughters daycare shared a few photos from the session to their social media page. I commented to thank them, and soon after, messages began arriving from other centres asking me to visit. At first, I had to explain that this wasn't actually a business so I wasn't able to help - it was just a one-off favour for my daughters class. But, the more I thought about it, the more I realised how meaningful the experience had been. It was fun, educational, and most importantly, it helped children feel comfortable and confident around medical equipment.

That moment sparked an idea - what if I turned this into something bigger? something that could truly help to reduce children's fear and anxiety around healthcare.

It took months of hard work - liaising with the health and education departments, organising insurances, policies and documentation, and sourcing all the equipment myself. Finally, in May 2023, Fun Nurse officially launched.

Since then, it has been an incredible journey. Ive loved every moment of creating positive, educational, and confidence-building experiences for our little learners - and I can't wait to see where Fun Nurse goes next!
